EU Plans Forestry ‘Carbon Farming’ to Meet Carbon-Neutral Goal

The European Commission is drawing up a “carbon farming” plan that will financially reward farmers and forest managers that restore abandoned land, to help the European Union achieve its Paris Agreement climate goals.

EU Energy and Climate Commissioner Miguel Canete , speaking at an EU forestry conference, said the carbon farming plan would be outlined later in 2019 as a way to give “an economic value to an important an ecosystem service.
